Anyway, here's what we did...
Our initial course slide provides a choice...each learner is to select their 'track' of the course based on their job description/title. The 'choices' are represented by the characters holding a sign indicating their discipline.
The learner selects the character representing their discipline, which sets the 'Discipline' variable in Storyline and jumps them to their 'track' (one of 3 different scenes--love those scenes!) . We added this step so that more content can be added to each track as needed in the future.
Once in their track, they complete their content and are then 'jumped' to the Knowledge Check scene.
The Knowledge Check transition slide incorporates variables, triggers, and states:
- There are 3 characters representing each of the 3 tracks are on the slide in 'hidden' status
- There are 3 'Go' buttons are on the slide--one for each of the 3 tracks; these buttons each lead to the questions for their respective 'track'
- Based on the 'Discipline' variable, this slide will show the correct character and 'go' button for the discipline selected on the opening slide.
- Each 'go' button will hide the character and 'go' button on the transition slide (so that upon return, the updated discipline will be applied) and jump to the first question in that particular discipline's track.
Each discipline has 3 questions; therefore, no matter what discipline you choose, you will only have 3 questions--each discipline's questions are different, that's why we needed 3 'tracks'.
After that, I changed the passing percent on the 4th slide to 32% (to accommodate the 3 tracks of 3 questions each) and unchecked the 'show score' and 'show passing score' options.
